Rochelle Rita Konja, a former track runner at North Farmington, has come a long way; From dealing with knee injuries, to being in the hospital a lot for other personal issues. Although Konja has been through a lot, she still conditions every day, for track, and her basketball season outside of school. Athletic as can be, she hopes to become, yet again another phenomenon to the team."I am nervous coming from one of the most common knee related injuries in sports, an ACL tear, and Meniscus tear, because I was told that I would never be 100 percent on my knee," Konja stated. Konja wanted to prove them wrong, sheknows that with her extensive workouts and conditions that she will become the most that she can be. "Anything that I do, whether it is, my homework, basketball, volleyball, track and field or whatever I have to do, I would give 110%, So I'll be happy with a 90% that the doctor said I will stay at with my knee, because THAT IS, my 100%," Konja expressed. Konja has been a strong asset to the team. Before every meet, she would give the team a little pep talk, to prepare them for the track meet."Whether you run cause you like it, cause you have to, or cause you are good at it, I need you guys to give it your all and more, Raiders are warriors and we never give up, we have made it this far, and I REFUSE to let these 28 schools get the best of us," I heard Konja state before a big track meet that the North Farmington Raider got invited to, andended up finishing in3rd place. I asked Konja why she does track, and this was her answer." The girls and guys i run track with are my second family, we spend almost every day together and have a bond that most track teams don't, I run because I am good at it, I don't enjoy track as much as i do other sports but it is a good conditioning spring sport that gets me ready for the other sports i play, although me and the coaches of the team don't see eye to eye, I still respect them and show up toalmost allof the practices," Konja stated. Konja is also going to be taking several AP classes, and has a basketball league that runs the same time as track. "During my previous track years, I would go to track practice after school till 5pm, and I would have basketball practice in my other league at 5:45pm till 9pm. I would get home around 9:30pm and would pull MANY all nighters to get through my treacherous classes, although I went through all this, I would still look forward to everyday, because I love what I do." Konja has had many supporters throughout her life and one of her BIGGEST fans was her Mom."Track should be fun this year, seniors are captains, so I feel confident that I can fulfill my spot as captain," Konja stated.
